What is going to happen with GM and Edwards Garage?

As most are all aware, General Motors is going through some tough times in the current economy. Any publicity they are receiving is for the most part negative and according to the media, every decision the automaker is making is "digging the hole" deeper. I will be the first to admit, that in the past General Motors did have some issues and ofcourse made some bad choices. In 2005, they realized that the Auto Sector was headed in a far different direction than where the company's product line and position in the market placed them, so change was neccesary. Launches such as the New Chevrolet Malibu, the first 2-Mode Hybrid SUV/Truck, and the anticipated Chevrolet Volt were put on the fore-front. Then the housing crisis in the States hit.........

The media can be your best friend or worst enemy depending which side of the story your on, obviously in GM's case the media has been a relentless foe. As dealers, we were sent a URL ( http://gmfactsandfiction.com/) that was built specifically to help seperate the "Facts vs. the Fiction." It is truly a great site and even allows folks like you or myself to submit rumors we may have heard and have them answered.

To be entirely honest, I have no idea what is going to happen to GM in the next few months, fortunately I do not have the responsibility of making the decisions to determine that. What I do know is that GM has been around since 1908, they have withstanded a Great Depression, 20% interest rates, 2 World Wars and yet they are still around. Even with all the bad publicity and "doom and gloom" attitude that is perceived to be thought by everyone towards GM, they are still the 2nd best selling automaker in the World. Edwards Garage has been serving the Rocky Mountain House area for 80 years, we too have survived a World War, 20% interest rates, and a Great Depression. Times are tough and it will be an uphill battle to overcome the recession, but it is nothing that we have not had to deal with before.

There is no question, that moving forward GM will be a significantly different company than it was before the recession. I feel that regardless of what happens, GM will come out of this as a stronger, more stable company and Edwards Garage will continue to do whatever it takes to provide the best service for our valued customers for many years to come.
